Issue with layer freezing

Hello,

I'm currently working on my submission for Shessar contest, which requires having a grid on the map. I've drawn it, it's in the HEX/SQUARE GRID layer, and I've frozen this layer. However, each time I select something, for instance to delete it, the grid is selected too, and can be deleted too. I have to use "Combine/Not" all the time. I could also hide the corresponding sheet, but I like having this grid as reference...

Am I missing something?

I found the best way to deal with the grid is to hide it when I don't need it.

I had the same problem some time ago. I can't remember the reasons why, but Ralph told me to ungroup the grid and then put it on the Grid/hex layer and freeze the layer. That's what I did for my competition entry

As soon as I ungrouped it, it started to work as expected. Thank you Sue (and Ralph too!)!

You're lucky I remembered it. My head hasn't been working all that well just lately!

The reason is that groups ignore Layer status, because they can be spread over multiple layers. Therefore a group like the grid is always selectable. Ungrouping the entities changes that behaviour, as would Unlocking all groups (Lock/Unlock is on the lower edge of the screen).
