Drawing filled polygon on top of symbol? How to stop it from disappearing on redraw?

Hello,

I am drawing a filled polygon on top of a symbol but when I redraw, it disappears (maybe it goes behind the symbol?). Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong and how to fix it? Thanks in advance!

I don't know which drawing tool you are using, so I can't be too specific, but some drawing tools have predefined sheets. In other words, even though you might think you are drawing it on a sheet that would appear to be above the symbol, the polygon is immediately placed on the Sheet set by the drawing tool. for example if you use the contour drawing tool the polygon it draws will automatically be placed on the LAND CONTOURS sheet. (Might not have the name of it exactly right because I don't have one in my current map but I hope you get the picture)

Draw your polygon, then right click the sheets button (three yellow sheets on the button to the left) and select Move to sheet... Then select your polygon and move it to a sheet that is drawn after the one with the symbol on it (which will appear in the list of sheets as if it is underneath the one the symbol is on)
  • Ok, that helped me figure it out. Thanks again!

    Same Dudeslife as on CG?
  • Another way to fix that problem is to figure out which sheet it's on, then move that sheet down until it's below the sheet with the symbol on it.

The way I do this is to hide the sheets o e at a time. Once you find the sheet it's on, move that sheet down. Slow the symbol sheer.

Sheet order can make your map look like it is acting strangely... I know from maps I have messed up. You can add sheets, but if there is nothing on them they will go away when you exit that map. Put a . at the lower left corner under the map border. The sheet will then stay there.
