Help with mapping detail
Hello ProFantasy Community. I have been lurking for a couple months now, typically finding the answers I need. I purchased CC3 and have been enjoying learning how to use it. My skills are novice level, though I've been getting better. One of the things I have noticed accomplished mappers almost always include in their maps are little "detail lines" setting off their land/water features. I have attached a sample of a map that shows this. I'm talking about the little swirly "contour" lines in the river and open land. Is there a way for me to do this in CC3 or is that being added by a different program? I would like to learn how to add these little "contour" details. Your feedback and input would be most appreciated! Thank you for your time.

Firstly, what product is that map from? It reminds me of a Roman fortified camp-town.
To answer your question, those wave lines are usually part of the style you choose to make the map in. For example, in the default style for CC3+, you'd choose the button with a ship on it and select and place the wave symbols it offers you.
Take a look at his other maps/drawings: http://mikeschley.zenfolio.com/
One way to replicate them (if not using Gimp or Photosphop) could be a set of custom line-styles and then apply them to a sea-line-sheet with some shadow-effect.
Like Barliman wrote another way would be to have symbols for them, but because they are in very very many different shapes I don't think Mike Schley isn't using symbols. For us mortals this could be a first step
WarEagle - How would I go about making/procuring a set of custom line-styles and/or symbols that would create this effect? That's definitely beyond my ability/understanding at the moment.
Thank you both for your feedback.
I just clicked something together to illustrate my post.
The first image shows the line-edit-dialog, there you simply define the style of the line, imagine some kind of mores-code, so it is paint and not-paint in change, there you can define some kind of pattern for different usage of the line.
The second image shows the drawn lines (simply smooth-path) with a new sheet which applies a simple effect on them.
