Why does mine look different?

Hello, I'm trying to replicate http://rpgmaps.profantasy.com/?p=372 this video but my design seems to look different, but I'm following his exact steps? My bulkheads are barely visable, no glow around the hull, am I missing something?

Have you turned on your sheet effects (right-click the Sheets & Effects button to do so)? If yes, perhaps your MERGE layer is hidden (that would disable effects)? If that isn't it either, is your map very large? If it gets too large, the effects become invisible because they don't scale with the drawing.
