Masking lighted bevel at edge of map

I put together a really basic map quickly for a session tomorrow:
For the second level of the plateau I used a lighted bevel. I am particularly trying to figure out what to do to mask the edge of the bevel on the map. I tried drawing a polygon with the right fill above it but it didn't look quite right. What I ended up doing was changing the angle of the sun direction to 120 which made it OK but not great still.
In general I am curious what people do to mask effects at the edge of the map (I also saw a similar thing with an edge fade on the first level; that I managed to mask by another sheet below it with the same bitmap fill...)
