fill style/symbol fills, want access to all of them from any map type

Is it possible to get the fill style types (symbol fills) of all map types (city/dungeon/overland/etc) accessible from any type of map (city/dungeon/overland/etc)? I've noticed there are several fill styles I'd like to use in a dungeon (say dirt sym) and it's missing in dungeon, or farm, or marsh, or any number of things missing from various types and for the life of me I can't figure out how to get access to them from the other map style.

I'm really surprised there is such a config option like this. I'd figure you'd have access to all of them. I've got this one dirt sym(sumbol Dirt) that for the life of me I can't get it to show up in any map other than one I did ages ago and it's rather frustrating to try and figure out how/why.

Fill styles are configured in each individual map, and not globally, so there is no direct option for this.

What you can do is to import fills from other styles into your map, you can either
    - Use tools -> import bitmap fill styles. This option lets you import folders of image files as fill styles.
    - Use Draw -> insert file. Use it to insert a map file, then immediately use Edit -> Undo to undo the insertion. This will remove any entities from the inserted map, but will leave fill style references behind. You now have available all the fill styles from the inserted map.

That seems to be the best way though the undo didn't seem to work. I had to place the map, use the fill, then delete the insert and it stayed at that point.

    Thanks! That is very useful.

    Celestian,

I do this all the time.

Here is an example where I pulled lava from DD3 for my Volcanoes and the crevasses.

I also pulled the skeletons from the DD3 symbol set to decorate my “Lake of the Dead” next to the evil tower.

Here is how I do it:

    1. Top right corner, Left click on FS Window.
    2. A new window opens up that is labeled Fill Style Properties.
    3. Look at the tabs and pick Bitmap Files if it is not already chosen.
    4. Left click on New, and name your entry “Whatever You Want” in the Fill Style Name Window.
    5. Left click Find.
    6. A new window opens up that should be within your bitmaps folder.
    7. This does not always happen though.
    8. If not, go to Computer OS (C)/ProgramData/Profantasy/CC3Plus/Bitmaps.
    9. The Bitmaps has all of your fill styles.
    10. Click on the one you want for your new fill style.
    11. It goes back to the Fill Style Properties.
    12. You may want to play around with the scale a little bit since it is for a different scale.
    13. Click on scale in the bottom left hand side and adjust width & height to your tastes.
    14. Click on OK.
    15. Your new fill style will now be on the list.

    I hope this helps,

This is why I love mixing styles!

You can design some really unique and cool stuff by just being a little creative.

    Best of luck!

PS: I also pulled the bitmap for the valley floor as well.
  • Tangential, but I have to say I love the bones on shore of the lake. Great detail work!
