Fractal Terrain 3 Start Up

For some reason, Fractal Terrain 3 takes a long time to load. Any thoughts? Might be the amount of memory needed to run. I reloaded the program and I'm still experiencing the same problem. Thanks!

What exactly do you mean by a long time? It is difficult to get an understanding of the problem without a more concrete reference.

For me, FT3 starts up in a bit less than a second (Counting until the splash screen disappears), then uses nearly 10 seconds to complete the rendering of the initial map loaded, but there are several things that may cause FT3 to load slower
    - Your SSD/HDD speed. Especially if it is installed on a highly fragmented HDD this could cause long loading times
    - Location of the start-up world. If I start FT3 by double clicking on a file on a network drive, that causes FT3 to load considerably slower, since it also loads the file during startup
    - Memory may be an issue if you load a map at startup with a high editing resolution. FT3 uses little memory compared to modern standards, but if your world is set to max editing size, it will consume nearly 1GB of ram at startup which must be available, otherwise your computer will start swapping memory.

It takes ten minutes or more. I run Windows on a partitioned drive on my Mac, so memory might be an issue. For example, yesterday I clicked the icon and the program never loaded. I reinstalled FT3 and I'm experiencing the same problem.

    Sounds wierd.

You say you are running it of a partition on your Mac. Are you Dual-Booting windows via Bootcamp, or are you using a virtual environment like VMware or virtualbox? In you are using a virtual environment, how much memory have you allocated to the virtual machine (I would recommend at least 4GB).
Do you experience long loading time on any other software on your windows installation?

I'm not very experienced with running Windows on a Mac though, so if anyone else more familiar with this topic has any ideas, feel free to chime in.

I use parallels, so memory might be an issue.

I've actually reloaded the software and now it's loading properly. I suspect there was a problem with the desktop shortcut from the firs tinstall.

Thanks for the help on this!
