Cyrillic Text Problem

Greetings to everyone!

Just purchased CC3 and already have a problem.

When I type anything with Cyrillic symbols, I get something like "ðÅÒÅÎÁ×ÌÅÎ ÐÏÞÔ" or so, while originally it was something like "Привет, как дела?". I'm quite sure I've never written anything like this. =) And I know that it is possible to use Cyrillic. I just can't find out how.
Any help here?

Just in case, I run it on Win 7 x64

  • Hello there!

I've got the same problem with some fonts that do support cyrillic symbols. The only way I've found was to search for fonts that work properly, i.e. uncommon DS UncialFunnyHand, AdonisC and Gabriola or more common a_DomIno, Arial Cyr and Times New Roman Cyr.

Have you tried using Arial Cyr, that is, afair, installed with CC3?

You need to use a font that supports Cyrillic symbols, not all fonts do and it won't display correctly unless you are using.

Additionally. do you know if the font you are using work find for what you are trying to do in an older version of Windows on a system with XP or n earlier OS, as it could also b be a font issue related to Windows 7. Microsoft made changes starting with XP on how fonts work and handle metadata. When Vista came out they made even more changes which made a lot of fonts have problems.

I mentioned this in a big long post I made on font issues and CC3 regarding the changes when I was troubleshooting font issues.

If it isn't having the problem on an older OS, see if you can find an updated version of the font that works with Vista or a latter OS.
  • Thanks for your answers!

Using special fonts as kilma.ard.venom suggested works fine. Actually, that was my bad: I got used to Arial, Comic Sans etc. as "universal" fonts that have Cyrillic and haven't figured out the postscript "Cyr". In Word or Photoshop usual Arial works fine as well, so I've been a little confused...
Anyway, problem can be considered as solved, thanks to everyone!
