Installed CC3+, DD3+ = no DD3+ Dungeon Menu icon!

I'm having trouble getting my DD3+ "Dungeon Menu" icon to show up at the top of CC3+ (I do have default "Map Menu"). I've installed, uninstalled, reinstalled and no luck on my desktop (Win 7 Pro).... I get the icons on my laptop installation of CC3+ / DD3+ (Win 8.1) - so I know its supposed to be there.

  • I re-ran CC3+ Update 1 and now my Dungeon Map icon is there :)

  • I upgraded by installing DD3+ upgrade, then CC3+ Update 2 (without having done Update 1) and am having the same problem. I did a Repair on Update 2 but that didn't do anything.

Do I have to install Update 1 before Update 2, and do I now have to uninstall CC3+ before I can do that?

First of all, updates are cumulative, so you never need to install anything but the latest update.

Can you try running CC3MenuConfig.exe (Found in the CC3+ data directory, which is c:\ProgramData\ProFantasy\CC3Plus by default) and see if that fixes the issue. If it doesn't, do you have a dungeon.mnu menu file in that directory?

(Note that CC3MenuConfig executes and complete silently unless there is an error)
  • I'm having the same problem. I've done pretty much every combination of fresh install and repair, with 3.67 updates, I can think of, and I still get no DD3 button in my CC3+ interface. Also, that file (CC3MenuConfig.exe) doesn't exist for me. I can find the directory, but that file is not there (or anywhere, according to a full system search.) Scratching my head.

Have you tried running the Update 2 installer again, and doing a repair of that? (And then try to find/run the CC3MenuConfig.exe file.) The missing CC3MenuConfig.exe is probably the reason why you don't have the icons, as this file is the one called by the installer to modify the menus, without it, that would obviously not happen.
  • I'm also having the same problem. Tried reinstalling update 2 with no change. Found CC3MenuConfig.exe and ran that with no change and I don't have the dungeon.mnu file in the directory.

For those that are missing files, and a reinstall/repair doesn't help, you should contact ProFantasy support directly, they should be able to help you out.
If you have a working install on another computer, you should be able to just copy the missing files over, then rerun CC3MenuConfig.exe, and it should fix the menus, provided all the menu files are actually present. The problematic/missing files here seems to be CC3MenuConfig.exe itself and/or dungon.mnu, which is the menu file for DD3. Both these files should live in the CC3+ data directory, which is c:\ProgramData\ProFantasy\CC3Plus by default.
  • Thanks for the help, Monsen! I'll fiddle more with it today.
  • When running CC3MenuConfig, be sure to Run As Administrator. I haven't run into this specific problem, but earlier this year I needed to use CC3MenuConfig and was instructed by Ralf to Run As Administrator.

If you haven't done so, give it another try.

  • Sorry, been away.

I'm having the same problem in that CC3MenuConfig.exe does not exist in the data folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\ProFantasy\CC3Plus) and doing Repairs etc doesn't accomplish anything.

But I did find that CC3MenuConfig.exe does exist in my CC3 folder which is actually C:\CC3 - when I installed CC3 it was accepted wisdom to install it into C:\CC3 folder rather than in the normal C:\Program Files (x86)\ProFantasy\CC3Plus or C:\Program Files\ProFantasy\CC3Plus folder.

Wonder if this is where the problem originates? Also if it being in \Progam Files (x86) rather than \Program Files?

The installation location should not have anything to do with this, after all almost every file were indeed installed correctly, it is only a couple of files missing. As for \Program Files vs \Program Files (x86), on 64-bit systems, all 32-bit programs are supposed to be installed in \Program Files (x86). This is something Windows handles silently in the background, and you should normally not install a 32-bit program to \Program Files on a 64-bit system.

I know ProFantasy is busy trying to figure out this oddity with the missing file, hopefully a solution will be available very soon.
