Outlines of Landmasses from FT3
Hello all,
I am trying to do something that I thought would be simple, or at least I know how to accomplish it in photoshop.
I have exported a landmass from FT3 to CC3. I would like to be able to see the altitude contours so that I can know where to put mountains and other features. BUT I would like to remove them later so all that is visible is the symbols and other things I have added. This is made difficult because the contours create the coastline.
I assume that to do this I either need the coastline on a different sheet from the altitude contours, which I seem unable to get FT3 to do, or, I must create another coastline on a different sheet from the altitude contours.
So what I need to know is how do a copy just the coastline?
Or more simply, if I have shape A and and want to create a perfect copy of its outline, how do I do that?
Thank you so much to any kind soul who replies.

The use Default Landmass and Trace to put in the area you want, then if you increase the opacity of the contours so you can see the landmass below, you can start to add features such as hills, mountains etc.
Having said that there are times when everything comes over on one BACKGROUND sheet but I suspect it is the Save without Sheets option that is throwing me as I first interpreted this as being multiple small patchwork maps (sheets) rather than CC3 sheets.
At least that is the logic I have worked out but my practical skills on the software don't seem to be up to the same level as my understanding of how things probably work.
Now I need to work out how to match the File>New> work space to be the same size as the FT3 COPY and PASTE as choosing a larger area and trying to resize the Paste is proving troublesome.
Although if I move the drawn area that I selected in FT3 and saved and Opened in CC3+ from the middle of the workarea down to the bottom left corner (Co-ord 0,0) there must be some way of resetting the top left of the workarea back to the edge of the drawing area.
Wile doing this DO NOT move the mouse
1) click on an edge of the landmass
2) Press T on the keyboard (asks you to select entity to trace)
3) Left Click (asks you to choose start point)
4) Left Click (asks you to choose end point)
5) Left Click (hopefully land will have vanished)
6) Right Click
I found this select all the continent.
Sometimes you get a weird shape, when this happens all I could do was move the mouse to trace the coastline until it went weird, chose that as an endpoint and then went back to trace.
Hope this helps
