cc3+ crashs making grids

Is there a setting I can change to keep cc3+ from crashing when I add a Grid? I have a continent map at 2550 x 3300 and I want to zoom in to an area with 1 mile grid. It keeps crashing when I tell it to make the grid this small.

The grid is applied to the map area so adding a 1 mile grid to a 2550x3300 map creates a lot of new entities, especially if labels are added.

Perhaps you just want the work grid this small. You can do this with the Tools->Snaps->Grid settings command.

Grid means either a drawn grid with entities or the work grid you use with the Grid and Snap buttons which doesn't require entities.
  • I mean the Grid overlay. Not the snap grid down bottom. No labels though.

Can you contact me via email (help@profantasy.com)? I haven't seen this issue before and would need a sample map to look at it.

It is indeed a matter of file size and number of entities. A 1000x800 map filled with a 1-mile hex grid (no labels) already comes out at 10Mb file size. You map would be more than 6-times that size. CC3+ simply can't handle so many entites through the HexGrid command.

And believe me, you wouldn't want to work with a map of that size and scale. Filling it with meaningful detail (where each hex matters) will basically be impossible.
