CC3 Making New Symboles Collections

ok to keep things nice and short. i dont have a clue how to do that. i wish to combine 3 group so trees in order to make one symbol collection. as i plan on making a world that is mostly a mix of cold, temperate lands. with a mix of pine and Deciduous trees. but i cant find anything on creating new symbol collections. the manual was competently and utterly useless. you think such an important feature would have not been ignored... but thats just the frustration talking. if anyone could help me fix this issue. i would greatly appreciated it.

To create a collection of symbols, two criterias must be fulfilled.
    - The name of the symbols must be identical, except for a number or a single letter at the end
    - The symbols must appear next to each other in the symbol catalog.

To do this, open the desired symbol catalog up as a map (as opposed to open it up in a symbol catalog window), then open up the Symbol Manager from the Symbols menu. Use this to rename and reorder the symbols. Now, to add them to a collection, access the settings of each symbol, and simply place a checkmark in the "Symbol is one of a collection" checkbox, and indicate the correct collection options (These must be the same for all symbols in the collection).
Now close symbol manager, and save the catalog. Assuming that the symbols follows the rules outlined above, they will now appear as a collection next time you open up the symbol catalog in the catalog window.

Note that I do not recommend you edit official ProFantasy catalogs, you should create a new symbol catalog instead if that is your goal. Of course, all the symbols must also be in the same catalog to create a collection. In case you don't know how to create a catalog, here is the basic steps. From the new map wizard, select the Symbol Catalog Category, and choose the blank overland catalog template. Now, simply open up the symbol catalogs (in the symbol catalog window) that contains the symbols you wish to include, and click once on each symbol, that will place their definition in the map. When done, Select Symbol Manager from the Symbols menu, delete any symbols you do not want in your catalog, select all the remaining symbols, then hit the Save as Catalog buttton. You now have a symbol catalog with your desired set of symbols.

When I make a village or city I like, I save those symbols as set so I can make more towns/cities that are similar. This is particularly handy for making them for one nation in my campaign.

Click on the word Options just above the symbols.

Unclick 'Expand all collections' and then click okay.

You will have your collections back.
