It is not clear how to install updated versions...

Hi,

I have just reinstalled CC3 on my new laptop (Windows 8.1). And on the weekend I bought the CC3+ upgrade. When I downloaded the files I see that a CC3 install (version 3.45) is included along with the CC3+ intall. My current version is 3.11.

What is the procedure? Do I run the ver 3.45 file then the CC3+ file? Do I unistall my 3.11 version first or does that happen automatically? I don't want to end up with three versions of CC3 sitting on my PC just taking up space.

Can somebody explain the procedure. No explanation is provided as far as I can see as to why all those files are included in the download.

I assume I will use the new serial number when the time comes?

Regards,

Howard

You don't need CC3 to install CC3+. Just keep in mind that the add-ons for CC3 have not yet been updated for CC3+. At the moment, I have CC3 (with the add-ons) and CC3+ installed on my system and I move back and forth between the two.

Effectively, as an early adopter of CC3+, you got a version of CC3 "for free".

  • Thanks! I did eventually discover something in the FAQ regarding an update file - which it turned out I did own. Though even the FAQ was not completely clear. It seemed to require one to run the update twice w/o an explanation as to why that was. I also discovered that when I tried to run the 3.45 version it tried to install alongside the 3.11 version so I just canceled it an ran the upgrade instead. I haven't done anything with the CC+ yet. I also bought the two most recent annuals and I installed the 2014 one last night, which seemed to work. Haven't had a chance to play yet...
  • If you did not buy any of the add-ons (City Designer 3, Dungeon Designer 3, etc.) you don't need to install CC 3.45 - just CC3+. Now, that being said, I don't presently own any of the Annuals so those might not work with CC3+ yet.

Regardless, you should end up with at most two installs: CC3 and CC3+.

    Hope that helps,

Profantasy is working on compatibility updates for the add-ons and Annuals so they work with CC3+.
