Issues of Scale With Fractal Terrains 3 Output to Campaign Cartographer 3

Hello all,

I'm quite new to ProFantasy's software, as I only purchased it last week. I have spent most of that time working on creating a fantasy world in Fractal Terrains 3 and adjusting climate settings to be more realistic. Once I achieved this, I used the Export Multiple Files function to create roughly 16000 maps based on Joe Sweeney's tutorial for doing so. I created custom export settings for simple altitude data and let it all export. I included a scale bar in each map, and this is where the problem occurred. Each map has the exact same scale bar, even though they are at vastly different scales. I think I have figured out that this is because Campaign Cartographer thinks each map is at the same scale (I have read about CC3's internal scale on other posts), and so I am wondering if there is some way to work around this when exporting from FT3? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I don't know if there is any other fix than not exporting the maps with the scale bar on. FT3 scales the export correctly, but the scale bar is wrong. For the record, this doesn't have anything to do with CC3's internal scale, it is just a case of an erroneously scaled scale bar, the rest of the map is scaled correctly.

  • Thanks, sorry for the delayed reply. If I add the scale bar after it has been imported into CC3 it should theoretically display it correctly then, right?

Yes, as long as you insert the new scale bar using the correct scale obviously. You can also rescale the exported scale bar from FT3 if you prefer. Just measure it with the distance tool in CC3, then rescale it so the measured distance matches up with what the scale bar reports.
