Noob question: More digits for hex grid numbering?

I'm a complete CC newbie, so I apologize in advance if I'm missing something horribly obvious. That said:

When I create an overland map with a hex grid, each hex is numbered with four digits (like 0564 or 8112, for example), with the first two digits denoting left-to-right, and the last two denoting top-to-bottom. The problem is that, with a map the size I'm trying to create (around 250 hexes wide/tall), they end up repeating after I hit 99 in any direction. Is there a way to make the hex numbers use six digits instead of four? (I'd rather avoid using alphanumeric mixing if I can help it; there are certain four-letter words I don't really want to see making an appearance in my map).

Thanks!

EDIT: Moved to (I think) the correct forum now. Please let me know if I'm wrong; I promise not to get mad. :)
