Is it possible to change the Map style?

I recently started work on a new map, and having played a little with the style that I chose, I've decided that I wish I'd picked a different one for this map.

I havn't done all that much yet, but quite like the way my landmasses have turned out, so would prefer to keep them. But the style I was testing out just doesn't have the feel I thought it would.

Is there a way to change the style that I picked at the beginning, so that I can use the fills and tools from a different style?

Or do I need to start over?

  • I would also like an answer to this question. I occasionally would like to use 2 or more styles.

You can't change a style retroactively, but it's not so hard to convert one to the other, especially if you're still early in the process.

    1. Start a new map based on the new style, in the same size as the original.
    2. Open a second instance of CC3 with the original map.
    3. Use Clipboard copy to copy parts over from the old into the new (use 0,0 as your reference point both when copying and pasting).
    4. Use the "Change like drawtool" command (right-click Change Properties to access it) to convert the different parts into the new style.

    Hope that helps.
  • Ralf, thanks for that it seemed easy enough to do, although I can imagine that it might have been a little more complex had I been further along with my map.
