Memory use while rendering

How does cc3 use memory when rendering a jpg or png file.
I'm working on a city file with a large number of houses, rendering at 1600 * 1600 and getting crashes.
What can I do to help with this issue? Larger swap file, more ram?
I can normally render at 6000*6000 with no issues.
Thanks

Well using PDF creator is allowing me to export with out crashing so that is good. I miss the ability to set the rectangle area for the print selection though.

CC3 uses 2 gigs of ram, and I remember it not using the video card either. You might look in these forums for info on CC3+.

You should note that City maps are usually way more detailed than overland or dungeon maps and contains more effects, which means the rendering takes more memory, which again leads to a smaller max export size. As CC3 is a 32-bit program, it can only utilize 2GB of ram as JimP said, so as long as you have 2GB of free memory for CC3, there is nothing more you can really do, expect going the print route with a PDF driver as you have already done.
