CSUAC Problems with Windows 8.1

I seem to be having some problems installing the CSUAC stuff on my new computer, which runs Windows 8.1. I am logged on as an administrator. Following the directions, I tried to extract the first zip file to C:/programfiles(x86)/profantasy/CC3 and it just refused to extract. No warning that I don't have permission, just some weird error message claiming it couldn't open a file in the given spot. Is there something basic I'm missing here, or a clever trick to work this? I'd love to keep the CSUAC stuff (particularly since many elements of them are in my maps). Or is it simply incompatible with Windows 8.1?

The thought occurred to me to manually place each and every item after extracting them to the desktop, but that seems a) overly involved, and b) I'd need to know EXACTLY what goes where. Any suggestions?

Try starting your unzipping software by right clicking on is icon, and do a 'run as administrator', then use it to extract the zip file. Note that this requires a third party unzipper, since the built-in one in windows doesn't have an executable you can do this with, and it also requires you to open the zip file manually from inside the program after running it as admin, as you won't get the run as admin option if you simply right click a zip file, since this is not an executable.
  • That worked! Thanks! The computer comes with 7-Zip, but it wouldn't let me "Run as Administrator" normally when trying to unzip the file. However...when I went to the Windows 8.1 Start Screen, found the icon for 7-Zip and clicked once on it, an option to "Run as Administrator" popped up along the bottom. That did it. I seem to be back in business. The red Xs are now gone from my old maps. :-)
