Houses is CD3?

Whats the difference between the houses in the symbols and the houses you make in the house creator thing? The tutorials generally tell you to make it using the house tool but why? The symbols seem easier :P. I cant get my houses to look like the symbol. It seems as if the symbol have a different shading or goes together better. Is this normal? And I get get how to make many extensions look good or those multiple stories house looking things either.

The house tool can create a house in (almost) whatever shape (and ratio) you desire, while the symbols only come in so many predefined versions. Thus, using the house tool lets you get a much more varied collection of houses in your city, especially when combined with the random street tool that draws random houses for you. (The street tool can only use the houses from the tool).

The technical difference is that the symbol is basically a single raster image drawn by an artist, while the house tool are vector entities with fill styles, that try to emulate the style of the raster symbol. The end result is that the raster symbol does indeed look better if you need to zoom very close, but on a reasonably large city these differences aren't really that noticeable when effects are on. The general advice is to use the house tool (and random street) to draw the "common" houses in a city, and use the symbols for more special buildings. If you wish to create a very zoomed in view, you would probably want to prefer the symbols as well.
