I have the CC3 annual for making naval ships. However, it's not clear from the tutorial how to actually make a ship's hull. Any advice?

I recommend watching Joe Sweeney's excellent Starship Design (for beginners) video tutorial. He does a great job of showing how to make a starship hull, which should translate nicely to a sea ship hull. Plus, his stuff is always fun and worth watching anyway.
