This is a commission I made for the Chronicles of Lo-Hin (http://lo-hin.com/)
It is made in CC3, using Jon Roberts overland style from the annuals, with some tweaks in phothoshop. I've also added two symbols of my own that were missing in the style, and needed for the map.
There are no labels on this one, the client himself will add those.
I hope you like it.

Awesome map, Clercon. Props to you. Which kind of forests did you use? I guess they´re made in PS.

Thanks for all the nice feedback. There are mainly four things I do in Photoshop. I use curves to change light, add texture to get the rugged look, I'm painting some colours on the terrain, like shadows on the forest and plains and I'm using my secrete weapon, the oil paint filter. The trees in the map are actually the standard ones in the style, it is the oil paint filter that makes them into something more original. I hope that explains it a bit.

Ahh yeah, thanks. In PS 6 the oil filter is even installed at the standard product. Excellent choices, my friend!

Nice work! Any chance of you putting some of that Photoshop stuff up as short tutorials? I am most interested in information about the lighting curves and the texture process.
