moons in FT 3 ?

I am trying to figure out how to make moons with obvious craters. Smooth and jagged.

What settings should I use in Fractal Terrains 3 ?

These would be 10 miles to 500 miles across.

Thanks !

I seem to recall a planetary bombardment feature in FT. If my mind isn't playing tricks on me (which is a distinct possibility), maybe that can help?

Edit: Just checked (otherwise it would've kept me up at night). There is a planetary bombardment feature. Try Tools>Actions>Planetary Bombardment. That brings up a nifty little dialog box where you can configure your settings, including crater size min/max! What a cool feature. The help file explains the dialog settings nicely. Not sure if that will take care of everything you need but hopefully it helps.

I'll have to work with it for a bit. Somewhere between too many craters and not enough at present.

Hmm... If I use a low number of craters, 100, I get a blue at the bottom. Sea is set to zero percent.

Try setting your low to 100 and high to 60000 instead of -30000 to 30000. The crater function has a small problem of wanting to generate rims at 0 regardless of starting depth. Those huge cones on some of the creaters are most likely due to those portions being far below 0.

Thanks ! I'll check into it when I can, likely this coming weekend.
