Symbols do not print

I've just started trying to us CC3 and the Dungeon Mapper tools. I'm getting increasingly frustrated with the program as a whole and I'm hoping someone can help. After creating a map, or heck, doodling quickly with the fractal lines, I try to print. The print preview looks perfectly acceptable and includes everything I'm looking at. I'm using 'Active Window' to print, all visible sheets on one page (no sheets are hidden). When it prints out however, all I get are the lines - no symbols show up. (Or worse, only some do.) I've also gotten just pieces of the symbols - mostly gray lines.

If I create a new drawing with ONLY a symbol. I still get just a gray mark for the symbol.

  • Would it be possible to attach a map for us to take a look?

  • Absolutely, here you go. What seems to print for me is a thin quarter inch line of the icons. Strangely, the all black icons print perfectly fine as does the fencing in the southwest. As I said previously, the fractal lines and the grid lines print perfectly acceptably.

Dungeon Designer's own tutorial maps give me the same error.

Quite weird, I've never seen a problem like you describe before. Sounds like there is something on your end though, as your example map prints just fine for me.

I would suggest you update your printer driver. Weird prints do often result from this, even if other software prints seemingly fine. As a workaround, you can also try to install a virtual PDF printer driver, and use this to print to a PDF file from CC3, and then, assuming the pdf looks ok, print this pdf on your real print from a pdf reader.
If this doesn't fix the problem, I would recommend you contact ProFantasy Technical Support
  • You may also want to make sure under the print box 'View to print, that you don't have something funny selected.

I was getting strange printing too, but as soon as I changed the pull-down to 'All visible sheets as one page', it printed fine.
(However, it sounds like you've already selected that, )

I looked into drivers, but my printer is using the latest ones. I have an HP2055 which admittedly is just a b&w, but that shouldn't matter. I'm running Win7 64-bit with 12GB RAM.
As an addition, my overland maps do almost the same thing. Some of the land background prints, none of the roads do, some of the symbols print, ALL of the generic 'draw a line that makes houses' print. But none of the placed houses print. I also don't see the compass rose of all things.

My settings are set to 'all visible on one page', 'scale to fit', 'everything', the two check boxes under options are both unchecked, and if I print out to a PDF the file prints fine. All of my layers and sheets are visible and the print preview is correct.

I'm talking with support now too. If support shrugs, I'll probably uninstall and reinstall just to see if there was an error somewhere along the line.
