Visual behavior of program itself is off a bit

Hello,

I have just gotten my Win8 machine due to a hardware failure of my other comp.
I just reinstalled my CC3 suite (in the order provided in your FAQ) using admin rights so, I think I installed everything properly and orderly.

The problem I am having is the graphics on each button like "symbol style toggle, symbol catalog settings etc..." are hanging off of the button and when I go to my catalog option and select two columns it only shows one still. If I select three it only show 2 etc..

I reinstalled the update just in case but, it didn't fix anything.
Additionally, the graphics are a bit fuzzy (not crisp) on the buttons.

I am running 1920X1080 resolution if that matters.

Any help or solution would be appreciated.

PS I took a screenshot and it is just too pixelated to really see the issue other than the showing 2 when in 3 columns.

  • I'm running CC3 on windows 8 at 1920x1080 without that issue. so it's not the OS and resolution. Sorry I'm not more help, but at least you can rule that out.

I'm having the exact same issues myself om my new Windows 8 laptop. I didn't see this in my win 8 virtual test machine, so it doesn't always happen, but so far, I haven't seen it happening on other OS versions, so it does seem to be a windows 8 thing.

    Running same resolution as you.

I'll add some screenshots later, I don't have internet access on my PC right now.

Found the problem. Windows 8 seems to use 125% text scaling as default (at least my install indicates it is the default), and CC3 seems to not handle this too well with regards to the toolbar icons. This seems to affect all the built-in icons, but not icons loaded from external files.

The easy fix here is to set scaling to 100% (found in the display resolution dialog), but this will affect all text and many other items in Windows, so it might not be ideal for you. The other option is way more time consuming, and involves exporting all button images to external files, and modifying the menus to load these images instead of the built-in ones. Additionally, this last option will only fix the toolbars, and not the symbol catalog window.
  • Hey, hey.

    Works like a charm.

Is there a way to set text scaling on a per program basis? I know you can with browsers...

    Oh well. Awesome!

Hey thanks Monsen. I really appreciate the quick response.

Not that I know about. I did check the compatibility settings, but windows didn't offer a compatibility option to handle this. There might be some hidden option somewhere I am not aware of though.
