Smooth Poly not showing up on map.

Hello all,
I am in the process of making my first map in over a decade. I am amazed at how much I have forgotten and, additionally, how much I am remembering.

My problem is that when I make a smooth poly to go under a cluster of trees it just disappears. I have played with and screwed up a bunch of the settings during my dabbling but, I have always been able to recover by reinstalling patch 10.

I am placing the shadows (smooth poly) on the S:LAND, P:0.00, color:249, W:00250, L:VEGETATION, LS: Solid, FS: solid 20 bitmap.

I have tried reordering the Sheets to no avail.

When I use the Default Terrain option of Terrain Default, Forest Mixed the contour lies on top of the trees themselves. (this is why I thought it was a sheet ordering issue)

Any help would be fantastic. I am a bit frustrated at the moment.
I am sure it is something silly I am missing but it is absolutely driving me nuts.

    Can't really help you.

But its always a good idea to post the fcw file.
The real experts usually can find (and fix) the problem pretty fast.

    Done.
I just reinstalled everything and it didn't help. This prog can be soooo frustrating some times.

I would do it this way:

    symbols back
    symbols

symbols back is the sheet to put the smooth poly and the symbols sheet is where the tree symbols go.
  • Try drawing your polygon with a line width of 0.
Your line width is set to 0.00250 so you're only filling that small band.
When the line width is set to anything greater than 0, you fill the contour, not all the entity. 0.00250 is greater than zero but very, very small, so you don't see anything at all.
  • Excellent. That was it.

I really appreciate it guys. Thanks.

On a side note. Is there a way to restore defaults in case boneheads (me) modify settings and forget to put them back? Other than a reinstall of course.

You can select Change Properties on any map and items in the map. The line width is settable at the top of CC3, along with pen width, line style, and fill style. You can use Change Properties to change those items already drawn.
