Replacing one symbol with another

Ok, I found that all the traveller subsector maps are already created in the example files. Great I have been working on one of them the switch the background to white. So far things are working nicely but then I hit a problem. The base icons are white symbols so I need to change them to black. Is there a way I can mass replace all of one symbol with another?

You can do this in Symbol Manager. Find the symbol in the list you want to change and select it,
and you'll find a whole set of greyed-out buttons are activated. One of them is "Replace"

That's useful, unfortunately it doesn't look like it will work in this case. The symbol manager isn't letting me select the variable color versions of the symbol just the "top" level non expanded version.

The symbol manager will only let you replace with a symbol already in the map, so if it doesn't list the symbol you wish to replace with, find it in the symbol catalog, set the correct color (for varicolor symbols), then click on the symbol in the catalog. This will copy the definition to the map (you don't need to place it), and it should be available in the symbol manager.
