"ruined" looking walls

having trouble getting the desired effect in this dungeon. this is the source map, with walls looking all old and crumbly:
now here's my map:
how can i get that "feel" with my walls? is it a sheet effect? if it's the "Displace" effect, any time I try to add it, CC3 crashes. same when I try to add "Wall Shadow, Directional". really need some help here.
edit: links work, though the thumbnail isn't showing?

What you've achieved so far looks pretty good to me:) Perhaps a little *fractalisation* on the walls, perhaps ?
I don't understand why CC3 crashes on a Displace or Wall Shadow effect. Would you mind posting your file? Or you can contact Tech Support on Profantasy main site.

here's the source file....
something like the below as a semi-transparent over/underlay to get a ruin effect.
This one is Structures\Ruin Sets\Grey Set1 (Object)\Wall_blu1.png
This is done very quick. With a bit more attention to detail and effects it can look netter.
Is this what you want?
Those stairs look awesome! How did you get that effect? And TBH, I didn't even consider using symbols for walls. Those symbols look perfect. I'll mess around with this when I get home from work. Thank you very much for your input.

I used a slightly faster way but the effect is not as good.
I added a new sheet called SHADE. And placed it between SYMBOLS and WALLS.
Gave it an Edge fade, inner effect, edge width 1, Inner opacity 50, outer opacity 25.
Then on the sheet I drew a square polygon (solid fill with a dark grey) over each of the the two upper steps of the stairs.
The result is a tranparent dark grey shade over the two upper steps.

I often use these on floors (just create a new sheet "floor cover"...copy your floor to this sheet...replace your floor on this new sheet with these as a bitmap), but you could also use this on walls or objects to try to get a more decayed look.
I explained the RVB matrix for this use here :

* using the offset1 command on each side of your wall lines (changed to 0' width) with an offset of 1' (because your walls are 2' thick), trim the resulting lines to intersection, close the loose ends with a line
* use the double line tools from annual #46 if you have it
Select all the lines and turn them in a path (right click explode, Line to Path tool) and, if necessary, close the path (right click explode, Path to Poly tool).
Then you just use the fractalise tool (I had to use trial&errrors to get parameters that look good and no, sorry, I don't remember them).
Hope it helps. I cannot be more precise as I don't have access to CC3 now (start work in 5' )
