Cobbler's Shop & Residence

Both of the gaming groups I play in are taking a break for a few months giving me time to catch up on some non-critical mapping. I've decided to populate the interiors of a few shops in the PC's home town starting with the cobbler.

The views are Exterior, 1st Floor and 2nd floor.

Everything about this is awesome. Really like how you did the windows - I've avoided them for some time because Icouldn't figure out how to make them look right. It seems so obvious now to have a second wall sheet for the baseboard (assuming that's how you did) but i've never seen it done like that before and it works really well.

That is exactly how I do it. 3 Sheets. Walls-Bottom / Windows / Walls-Top.

Wow people, you're really doing some amazing work lately. This is gorgeous, Shessar!

The hatch fill for the roof doesn't seem to use it's full resolution. Is that on purpose? Does it look better if you enable fixed high bitmap quality in the Display Speed dialog?

Great map!
I like the colors, especially the contrast between the greenery and the warm tones inside the building.
I just wonder about heavy raining... Water will run down from the upper roof on the lower one and splash on the sleeping rooms wall...

I've fixed the bitmap quality and re-posted in the first post. Thanks Ralf. I'm not sure why, but I always seem to have that issue on my laptop. Could it be because the laptop display size is so small?

Also, if anyone is interested, here are the png's of the carpets I made for this.

ROFL! You are right of course. I'm really laughing because that sounds like something my husband would say. You wouldn't happen to be an engineer would you JdR?

Probably not something I'll fix on this map, but something I'll keep in mind for the future.

Great idea about the different wall sheets.
Like anomiecoalition said, now its seems perfectly logical to do it this way.

And would really like to know ahere you got the symbol for the fence.

Absolutely gorgeous. I like the smaller bed/bedroom that indicates a child. And unless my eyes deceive me (a distinct possibility these days *sigh*) it looks like one of the kitchen chairs is slightly smaller than the other, too. And I have to echo the others here, too. The windows look fantastic. Thanks for sharing!

Henrie61, The fence symbol is from the CSUAC. It is under Structures\Barriers Wooden.

Dogtag, your eyes are still quite good.
The bed and kitchen chair are both a bit smaller. The cobbler is not married but shares his home with his young apprentice.

Thanks for the compliments everyone. These are my favorite types of maps to do. They let me indulge my childhood fantasy of being either a landscaper or interior designer. Fun stuff.
