BEVEL Breaking Up Irregularly

So...I know I've gotten a few tips on this sort of thing before, but I don't think we've arrived at a real definitive solution. You place a wall, apply a bevel effect and sometimes a weird little hiccup occurs in the bevel around the corners/where walls meet. Its been suggested that this can sometimes be fixed by placing a solid color underneath your wall sheet (with a color that's not found in your wall.) I've tried this on a couple maps and never seem to get it working quite right (though it does often reduce the number of hiccups). Wondering if any of the pros here have some more detailed tips regarding which colors work best for this sort of thing or other work-arounds.

*Its not really a big deal - we can all live with the hiccups - just a little curious and neurotic.
