Fractal Terrain 3 Scale for CC3 Broken?

In FT3 it says my island is a distance of 1740 miles across. When I add a scale to the map export it says my island is less than 200 miles across.

Is this feature broke?

Yea, there seems to be a problem when adding a scalebar from the FT3 export. I recommend you add one manually in CC3 afterwards, or manually rescale the one FT3 put there.

What map projection are you using?

  • This is the situation I encountered as well.

In my case I used the multiple files export option with 3 levels of (2x2) submaps to export the world into smaller chunks which I later intended to detail out.

After doing so all the maps no matter at what level had the same 200 mile scale.

My question is how can you accurately create (or calculate the value of) the scale of the initial FT3 map.

I can use the distance function but then how do I know how long the line is? I don't think a ruler up to the monitor is a good option.

The scale of the map in CC3 is correct, it is only the scalebar that is incorrect, so you don't need to calculate any scale.

If you wish to resize the scalebar to the correct length, use the distance command to measure the length of the scalebar itself, then use the scale command to rescale the scale bar (including its text) to scalebar length divided by measured length.

I am afraid I don't understand your problem here. The point of the distance command IS to tell you the length of the line, there is no need to measure the measure line.
