Issue while creating metric map 18m x 22.5m

Hello,

I'm just beguining with ProFantasy, and watched the tutorials about DD3.
I'm trying to do something quite simple, but it seems I missed something.

I just try to create a brand new basic battle map 18 meters by 22.5 meters and apply a (squared battle) grid of 1.5 meter squares.
So I :
- click on the "New map" button,
- Select "Dungeon", "Decide settings myself", click next
- Select "DD3 dungeon metric", click next
- Put in "18" as width and "22.5" as height, click next
- Select "Dirt 1 Brown Bitmap" background, tick "Grid overlay", click on "Grid settings"
- Select "Square grid", put in "1.5" as "Grid spacing", untick "Labeling" (I don't want any label), click "Apply"
- Click "Finish" and save it as "Battle map"

The result is map of 18 meters by 22 meters, which is incorrect as I want a 22.5 meters height.
More over I got Labels on the edges though I didn't asked for them.

Could anybody, please, help me and tell me what I did wrong ?

Many Thanks

For the first problem, I guess the new map wizard only supports integers for the size. Probably best to just make it 18x23, then cut of the extra 0.5m later. If you are going to use maps of 18x22.5 a lot, you can prepare a map of this size for use as a template, so you don't have to manually chop of 0.5m on all maps you make.

For the second problem (grid), you need to uncheck the individual grid labels checkboxes, not only the main "labelling" one. Even though unchecking it greys out the other boxes, they are still in effect.

Great ! Thanks for the advices.

Is it possible to make the grid lines more thick ?
Do you have some guidelines (links) on how to create Templates ? I mean how would I successfuly make a 18 m x 22.5 m template, when I can't create such dimensions for my drawing ?

To make the line thicker, use Change Properties on them. You may need to thaw (unfreeze) the HEX/SQUARE GRID layer first. Use the dialog to set a line width, and make sure that fill style is set to solid at the same time.

Creating templates is detailed in the Tome. But is is both quick and easy. Simply create a new map, then do whatever changes you need (For example, in your case, resize the background and the map border to your desired 22.5 height), then do a save as, select CC3 template in the file type, and save it in the Templates directory in your CC3 installation directory, inside the appropriate subdirectory (The Dungeons subdirectory would be the appropriate for your dungeon template).

The next time you wish to start a map, instead of selecting the "decide settings myself", use "pick a pre-defined template" instead. Assuming you selected the Dungeon map type, CC3 will now show you a template selection dialog containing all the templates from the #Templates\Dungeons directory, including any new templates you have put here.
