how to get rid of those dots that are all over the map?

Each dot is in the middle of one square in the grid, when I hide the grid to do work on my map, they are distracting and annoying. Is there a way I can get rid of them?

These are the snap grid indicators. Click the Grid button in the lower right to toggle their visibility.
