I'm trying to get this stuff reinstalled after cutting my OS back to bare bones, but CD3 is not able to install the CD 7 update. I got CC3 OK and DD3 alright, but CD3 has this problem. I'll go ahead and pop the other titles in to see what they do.

Fantasy Floorplans 1 and 2 wouldn't install because it couldn't find CC3

For the CD3 problem, just install update 10 first.

This doing everything myself is getting old, but it looks as if I'm going to get any regional maps for my setting, I'm going to need to do them myself. So, today's question has to do with the random placement of symbols. I looked in the index and didn't find a suitable answer. The random placement often places the same symbol several times in a row before placing the next symbol. How do I alter this?

And, as long as I'm about it, how do I get random rotation on the symbols?

And my apologies. I put this down for a good while to work on other things, so I'm still on a learning curve.

By "Random placement" do you mean "Random selection"? Note that if you only have a few symbols in your group, it is only natural that the same symbol can appear several times in a row. The more varied symbols you have in the group, the better the randomization will be.

For random rotation, open the Symbol Manage, select the symbol you want to randomly rotate, then click Options. Check "Random transformations", click Options next to it, check "Rotate" and set the Range to "360°" That'll let the symbol rotate randomly in any possible direction any time you place it.

Was just thinking of entering a contest for the Cartographer's Guild, a one-page dungeon contest, but when I fired up my CC3, the DD3 icon was not available. I reinstalled DD3, but still no icon. I have DD3 in the drive now, but need to go shopping, so I'll need to tend to this later.

Well, it turns out that I have a couple of hours before shopping, so...

Click on the CC3/overland icon, then the rest should show up.

I can't Find a CC3/overland icon. There's an overland menu item, but nothing in there gives me dungeon symbols. Under the Tools, DD3 isn't listed as an addon.

Please locate you CC3 program folder and try running "CC3ConfigMenu.exe" (Run as Admin). Does that restore your Dungeon menu icon?

That doesn't do anything AFAICT. Mine says "CC3MenuConfig" and has no ".exe" appendage.

Did you check if the DD3 icon showed up in CC3 after doing this? Running the file doesn't give any feedback at all, it just does it job silently, then quit.

And yes, you have the correct file. If you don't have the .exe at the end, it is just because your windows installation is configured to not show file extensions on known file types.

I uninstalled and reinstalled and got it set up properly.
