Setting Altitude in Prescale offset inside a selected area

I would like to set the altitude of parts of my map. I know if I select an area and then use the paint tool (I normally use raise/lower in the prescale offset) it only paints in that area. Is there a way to select an area and just set the altitude to a specific value?

I presume you mean in FT3. I have no idea on how to do that in FT.

I came up with my own CC2/CC3 template for overland maps. It includes layers and bitmap fills for contours of 2500 feet intervals.

There is no tool in FT that will do an altitude set using the prescale offset channel, sorry. The Tools>>Global Set>>Altitude Value tool will use the offset channel to get teh are to about the altitude that you want. However, it will be a rough set due to the fractal function being at a different resolution than the editing data.

oh ok. I'll go and play with the global setting int eh selected area then. I hope it goes well because it would save me alot of time
