FT 3 - Spinning-Avi

Hi,

with FTpro demo was is possible to save a planet als Spinning Avi-File.

How can i do that with FT 3?

I don't recall any version of FT shipping with AVI file output. I vaguely recall discussions from the lauch of the original FT about 10 years ago where some folks were assembling the spin view frames into an AVI file (and GIF).

http://forum.profantasy.com/comments.php?DiscussionID=2014 has a feature request for the AVI format, but that's all that I can find on the subject, sorry.

Sorry, I have messed up. It was another program.

FT3 needs a Export-Function to generate avi-files.

Thanks. I've downloaded the programm. How do the conversion works? The help-file is not helping me ;-).

- From FT, export your world as a "spin view image sequence" (I prefer to save the images in PNG format against a black background)
- In VirtualDub, select File -> Open video file. Point to the first image in the spin view sequence. VB will automatically pick up on the rest
- Select File -> Save as Avi. That's it.


Note that the AVI file will get huge, so you may wish to compress it using XViD or another codec. Select this form Video -> Compression before you do the save step. Beware that there are lot of options here though, but the defaults are usually ok. For my test, the uncompressed avi was about 150MB, while the XViD compressed one was 1.5MB with no real visible difference in quality (50 frames @ 1024x1024)
