Changing a filled background

Howdy,

After developing a map for a while using a rock fill background as a placeholder, I have decided to change it to something watery. Unfortunately, I can't figue out how to do this, because every background-altering effect I attempt does not change the gray static of the rock fill. Help?

    Do the following:

    - Make sure any layers with your rock fill objects are not frozen.
    - Click Change Properties
    - Right-click and choose select by More > Fill Style.
    - Right-click again and select your rock fill style. Click Ok. (all your objects having that fill style are now selected).
    - Right-click > Do it.
    - The Change Properties dialog comes up. Change the fill style to something new (your water fill for example).

    Hope that helps.
  • Cool, it was indeed frozen as a layer. Thanks! My next issue is how to reliably select certain objects when they have totally overlapping borders with other objects.

I recommended that you read the chapter on selecting in the manual for this. It has a very detailed explanation for the various options you have in this scenario. The chapter starts on page 39 of the manual (Page 34 in the old manual).
