Example of reality stranger than fiction, Cartographer edition

One of the reasons I've really been drawn to mapping with CC3 is my facination with geography in general. And since really getting into mapmaking I see the way geography is shaped in the real world in a whole new way. I try to take that into my map making to get the best organic look to maps and have a lot of fun in the meantime.

I came across this satellite image of a river system in Bolivia that just struck me as truely awe-inspiring. I don't know if anyone else will feel the same way, but wanted to share it anyway. I figure, if there's any group of people who might get this like I do, it's other mappers.

I see what you mean Bearclaw. The main river meanders wonderfully - and the terrain types are surprising well defined.

It's a perfect example of a river always changing its course and leaving old, stagnant bits of the river bed behind.
