CC3 Installation

The FAQ section of the main site's support tab doesn't mention SS3 installation. Also, it hasn't been updated for the new Cosmographer. Any gotcha's in installing these two add-ons?

  • Also, the download page references a patch to solve a problem with DD3 involving the b-break command. I was unable to find the related thread here describing the issue. Will it hurt to install the patch even if I don't know if the problem exists in my installation?

Check your registration page, there is a section for downloads.

Install CC3, all add-ons, FT is an indepentant install, then run update 10.

If you have some CC2 add-ons, just your registration area for CC3 compatibility updates you can download.
  • Jim, I go all the way back to CC (w/o the 2) and am installing a fresh installation on my Mac under Parallels. My PC has all the installs incrementally, so this is my first raw install. I know about the downloads page, but it doesn't explain whatever the b-break problem is, and I don't remember what the issue was and who needs to install it. Also, I'm pointing out to PF that they need to update their install FAQ. Since I still have Perspectives, Diorama, and Character Artist, I guess I'll install the old CC2 Pro also ( in addition to the compatability updates).

If I remember correctly, the break issue was a problem under vista, where you hit b while drawing a dungeon corridor would not break the wall the corridor connected to properly. If you can draw corridors and connect them to rooms/other corridors without problems (using the b option), you don't need this fix.

This shouldn't be neccessary, the compatibility updates provides the full functionality of these add-ons into CC3 without the need of installing CC2 or the original add on.

As for SS3, it is listed in the FAQ, under step 4: "Install the remaining compatibility updates (Character Artist, Dioramas, Perspectives, Symbols Set 3) in any order."
