which tool to use

I am looking to make up maps for use in my Villains & Vigilantes game, the maps will be printed out for use at the table 1" = 5' scale. I know how to get that accomplished. What I am having issues with is drawing the building interiors in the first place. I want to make a good warehouse/office interior map but I am not sure which add on to use, or if I need to use an add on at all. I have CC3, DD3, CD3, and COS3 installed. All seem to be working fine. I would love a blacktop looking exterior for the street/parking lot with a concrete flooring and walls. I tried just using CC3 but when I try and switch to the bitmap deck plans tool I don't have the proper sheet, once I add that in all the tools show a grass fill instead of what they say they are.Guess I need a good walk through on the proper steps to achieve what I want.

Mainly I am trying to update the maps found in the old adventures into something more slick and modern. I can't draw worth beans on a battlemat and I love the look of a good map for a playing surface (that's why I bought CC3 in the first place).

You could do what I did for my Crestar surface maps.

I created my own template. I used one of the blank templates, and then made a list of bitmap fills I was going to use. I then go to the bitmap fills tab in CC3 and label each fill according to how I am using it on the map.

Here is my link to my surface map color chart, template, bitmap fills.
  • That is a bit vague for me as a new user of the program. I have never made a new template before and no idea how to go about adding in the bitmap fills for it.

I'd start with a Dungeon Designer 3 template and then add the fill styles from Cosmo 3 to that.

In the DD3 map, simply do Draw > Insert File and insert the file CC3/System/Fill Styles/Cosmographer.fcw. This will add the futuristic bitmap styles to your map.

To create a new drawing tool that uses one of these, just do the following:
    - Click the All Drawing Tools button.
    - Click "Advanced".
    - Select a similar DD3 drawing tool, say "Terrain, Dirt".
    - Click New and give it a new name, say "Terrain, Tarmac".
    - Click "Properties" and change the fill style, e.g. "Floor Concrete Fresh"
    - "Save" the tool.

You now have a drawing tool that handles like a DD3 terrain tool, but creates a new type of surface.

    Hope that helps.
  • Thanks Ralf, I think I can follow that!
