Importing bitmap images for fill styles

I've just revisited some old CC2 maps that I want to bring up to date and into my new mapping style. I have made the conersion from CC2 to CC3 (File>>CC2 to CC3 Conversion) and am in the process of moving the entities from the Common sheet to appropriately named new sheets. One of the things I need to do to bring the mapping style into line, is change the poly fill styles from a Brush Pattern to a Bitmap Fill.

However, on checking the Bitmap Fill tab of the Fill Style tool, I have no bitmap fills listed. Is there some way I can import lots of bitmap fils from my CC3 directory at the same time - to import dezens of these one at a time, which is the only way I can currently seem to achieve the objective will take me forever. Can someone tell me how to do this, please. I suspect I need to move the bitmap files into a different folder but I don't know which one :-)

Cheers,

Mike

Yes, you can do that easily. Do a Draw > Insert File and insert a drawing or template with the fill styles you need. Erase the inserted file, and the bitmap fills will remain.

CC3/System/Fill Styles contains several files of aggregated fill styles that can be used for this.

Or, if you want to really import all fill styles in one directory in one go, just do Tools > Import Bitmap Fill Styles. Check existing maps/templates for the scale settings you need.
  • Thanks, Ralf, the first suggestion did the trick - the help is appreciated. One small thing: how do I delete the drawing file? I'm not sure where to look for it :-)

The easiest way of doing this is to just use Undo immediately after inserting the drawing. The fill styles will still remain.

As for deleting it manually, you will need to identify and delete the entities inserted into the map. Exactly which entities these are depends on the map/template you inserted. If you just inserted the items, you can also select them with Prior when using the erase tool.

And you can save the map as a template for future maps.
