How Do I Resize/crop My Map When Exporting it

I created a map that is 5000x4800 so as to give me plenty of room to place my stuff. But when I export my map and viewed it is way zoomed out and when I zoom in it was way blurry. How do I crop the map so that it takes up the whole space.

  • I think I understand what you're asking:

    1. Go to File -> Save As...
    2. On the Save As Type: pull-down menu in the Save As... dialog box, select Rectangular Section PNG (or BMP or JPEG depending on what type of image you want).
    3. Click on your first lower left corner where you want your map image to start, then click on the opposite (upper right) corner. Or you can type in both sets of coordinates directly if you know what they are. CC3 will export the image at the size you specified to the active CC3 directory folder.
  • Thanks that worked like a charm. On a further note. How would I go about making the right size if I wanted to export it as a battle map. With a scale of standard dnd miniatures.
  • oh and how to export a higher res picture so it doesn't lose as much quality as you zoom in.

You can change the resolution by pressing the Options button in the save as dialog after selecting the appropriate export format, but before clicking the save button.
As for exporting it the right size for a battle map, you need to do some calculations. If I remember correctly, D&D miniatures uses 1 inch grids. So if you are going to print it at 300 dpi, that means you need to multiply your number of horizontal and vertical squares by 300 to get the appropriate size. If you are going to use it as an on-line battlemap, check what grid size the application you are using wants, and use that value to multiply.
