Sending a map by email

I want to be able to send a map to a friend by email He does not have ProFantasy.

To do so I have been saving he map as a JPEG, because that is the way I have always sent attachments before. However when the map is opened it is not possible to zoom in without losing all of the detail.

Is there another way to do it?

Raster images cannot store infinite zoom the same way a vector image (like a CC3 map can). There are two ways of handling this.

If you frequently send him maps, he might download the free ProFantasy printer and viewer, which can be used to show your CC3 map. As long as you only used fill styles and symbols that came with the software (including add-ons), ha can display the map without problem. If you used your own symbols and fills, these needs to be distributed as well though.

The other option is to increase the export resolution. The higher resolution you export the image in, the more details it will contain. The downside is that the higher resolution you use, the larger the file gets, and there is a practical limit for how large you can make the file. To change the resolution, just click the options button AFTER selecting your desired image format in the save as box. Note that you may also wish to try PNG instead of JPG as PNG is lossless, and provides for a higher quality image, which holds up slightly better when zooming in.

    png is definately better.

file size will also hit an email server limit. Some ISPs have a maximum file size that they allow through their servers.

You can do very high resolution exports, up to about 4000 across, which is more zoom than you'd ever really need, and they are relatively small in png format.
