3 Questions - Missing terrains, Cropping maps, & Mapping cliffs
Hello! I have recently picked up CC3 again after having taken a break from map-making. I'm trying to use it to rebuild some of the dungeon and battle maps for a D&D game I'm running, because the maps that the adventure came with have information that I'd rather my players didn't see. I'm also using them with Fantasy Grounds (online tabletop program), if that ends up being important. I have 3 questions that came up this morning that I'm hoping you great people can help me answer.
1. First, I just noticed that 2 of my terrains, Dirt 3 and Grass (green) 4, have disappeared. When I open up the terrain window, I have 6 empty windows where each of those terrains should be (3 normal and 3 transparent). If I click the empty boxes, it asks me if I want to save, but nothing else happens. Does anyone know what I might have done to lose those two patterns? I'm a little befuddled.
2. Second, I was working on a map today and in order to create a fractal pattern that traced the edges of the map, I clicked outside of the map. I know I should have just used the trace function, but this seemed to be working just fine, so I didn't think anything of it. However, when I was done, I exported it into a .jpg with the proper dimensions to have 5ft squares when I imported it into Fantasy Grounds. Instead, I found that my map had a large ring of white around it, and the squares were smaller. I realize now that it's because it wasn't cropping the area that I had "drawn" on, but I'm curious... is there a way to crop that part off of the edge of the page? The part that I can't see anyway?
3. Lastly, I need some creative advice. I have all of my maps done except one. The original map includes a small cliff on either side of the road, but I am drawing a blank on the best way to draw that using the DD3 battlemaps. I'm looking for ideas, but remember that a total noob at this! I have most of the annuals, but you still might have to speak in little words so that I can understand. >.> Here are the maps in question:
Original map (from one of the wizards.com free Dungeon publications): http://www.lady2beetle.com/dsf/rivenroarmaster.jpg
My current rendition: http://www.lady2beetle.com/dsf/Kruthik_Ambush.JPG
I know it's kind of sloppy, but I was trying to play around with it and see what I could pull off as far as the cliffs - and I ended up drawing a blank. Also, I'd rather not put 10 hours into a map that will likely be used for a single battle encounter, then never used again. So.... tips? Ideas? Suggestions?

3. for cliffs on maps i will rarely use again, I just put small black rectangles and put text nearby 'Cliff' and point to the two bars with arrows drawn with splinea. If the arrow heads don't show, change their size by typing 'astyle' and incerease the width.
Words inside single quotes, ', leave out the single quotes when you type them in CC3.
I suggest avoiding jpg files as they are very lossy. PNG is better.

You can create links by selecting the html selection at the bottom of your posts, and using regular html.
The city-state border is done with Brick as the fill style.
If it is only in the current map (and you need the fill styles), simply create a new map where the fill styles work, save it, and then go to your original map. No, use Draw -> Insert file and insert the new map you created into this map. Then immediately do Edit -> Undo. This will remove the map you inserted, but all the fill styles were copied over to your map, and these will remain behind.
2. Do as JimP says, and do a rectangular export. But use the modifiers (endpoint) to precisely select the top left and bottom right corner of the inside border to get a precise export with the correct scale for battlemap use.
3. Look at the two images in this thread for some ideas on how to do cliffs.
