Anyone know what is up with the dundjinni forums?

They have been "down for maintenance" for some time. I'd sure hate to see another great art library disappear. :(

  • The last I heard was that their forum host shut down and they were looking for a new host. The expectation was that they would be back within a few days. It has now been a month I think. Doesn't look good at the moment, but then considering that Dundjinni is now owned by one person (Mindy) it may be that she just hasn't had time to get everything restored yet. Many of the artists are now posting their work on RPGMapshare. Some have gone commercial. Some are now on the Nook.

It was indeed a great library of art. I even bought the software just to support their forums. If it doesn't come back It will be a great loss. I think it would be wonderful if we could get the artists to buy ProFantasy's software and make art for us. :)
  • Glad to hear that they aren't officially dead. Hope they go back online.

I have the dundjinni software as well. I think it and CC3/DD3 compliment each other nicely. Originally, I picked it up (along with the art packs) because I knew I would regret it if it disappeared before I did. :)

  • The DJ forums are back up and everything has been restored successfully. :)
  • i wonder how compatible the two systems are....is much work needed to use the icons etc from there in CC3?

The two are very different, and I find the ProFantasy software far superior, but both use png art.

The majority of the art in the SMAC is from the DJ forums.

CC3 PNG art is compatible with Dundjinni, and Dundjinni user art is compatible with CC3. The core Dundjinni art is in a proprietory format, and is not useable in CC3.
