Printing problems

Hi all

It seems I'm not alone in having printing problems. I read the discussion and like a lot of people my printing is really slow, as I type this its been going for 20 mins and is only spooled four of the six pages I've got it to print. It is printing colour and it is printing effects on a scaled image for a battlemap. But I've also got a several other encounter maps to print out and a dungeon to print out that is like 20 pages that will mean waiting all day at this rate to print it out. Am I doing something wrong? Is it better to print to PDF and then print?

I am running win 7 64 bit with 4 gig of ram, and CC3 fully patched, together with CD2 and DD2 compatibles. The map is a simple tavern and is only 148kb in size.

Oh and after all that time it printed a single blank page, I have selected the right option in the print mode to print all the available sheets but nothing. I'd sure appreciate some guidance at this point.

Thanks

  • Well I'm a bit disappointed no one has replied, but further to my problems above I wanted to mention something else.

As it stands I'm getting around the printing problem mentioned above by printing to PDF and then printing which is a whole lot faster.

But I've also noticed something else. I thought if I print only the section I want to use for my battlemap, I can then break a map up into manageable chunks. But here's the problem, on a battlemap if I zoom into a single room, to print at the scale 1"=5' and then switch on the sheet effects I get the programme endlessly refreshing, the symbols disappear, the green screen comes on and my computer thinks that its not responding. This doesn't end until I switch off the effects sheets.

I wanted to print off a section and include sheet effects as it presently stands I don't seem to be able to do this? Without it hanging.

I did find a sort of work around, whereby I hide the other parts of the dungeon on a sheet, but it still takes a huge amount of time to get it to send to PDF? Can anyone help as the sole reason for renewing to CC3 was to print off Battlemaps in the first instance.

    Thanks in anticipation

I don't know what could be causing this, but I'll recommend you contact ProFantasy Technical Support directly. You'll usually get a very fast response from there.
  • Thanks mate, I had hoped there was an easier solution and that this was more common place or just something I was doing wrong, but I guess not. Hence the absence of a response. Will do - thanks again mate.

  • I never had any trouble with the old AMD Athlon that I had nor the Sempron 2200+ .... Now that I am on Win 7 64 bit and have an i7 with 12 GB of RAM, crossfire video and the ability to render animation for a TV show I cannot get any of my maps to print. Perhaps the machine is just too fast for the program .... OK ... perhaps not. I had found that the instructions on installing the program to vista in the KBs was helpful. It was necessary to uninstall everything from the Program Files x86 folder and load it to a created folder elsewhere on the system. Fixed the lockup when I tried to create JPEGs or PNGs, but not the printing. Certainly it is escaping me and should be obvious, but after scripting and tolling for 3500 devices all day I really don't have the energy to come home and work on my own stuff... I'll keep pluggin' away and see what I can find, but not tonight.
