Vista crashes - Seeking advice

I was wondering if anyone was still having problems with Vista crashes or recently solved problems with Vista related CC3 crashes (as opposed to CC3 related crashes? I recently purchased CC3, SS1 and Annual 1. I installed them following the directions on the website for Vista installs including the patching.

It ran fine for several days, but, now that I'm actually gotten down to mapping, I'm having some problems with it crashing. The whole program bombs out. I'm also new to Vista so, I'm wondering if anyone has some tips or suggestions? I'm ambitiously working on a large world map (18000 X 12000). Some idea of my platform - 3 GB memory, Vista Home, Pentium Dual Core 2.0 Ghz. AM I overtaxing the system with a map that large?

The size of your map isn't an issue, but I am wondering about the complexity. There are limits for what windows itself will handle in this area, so an overly complex map can lead to crashes. You should not try to map your map in intimate details at that scale. CC3 will allow you to do it, but it is not a good idea. Usually, a map that size should be an overview map, with hyperlinked sections leading to more detailed maps.

    Thanks...

I've reloaded the map, turned off effects and deleted the bitmap I traced it from. I'll see if that helps some. I haven't gotten to dropping the symbol on the map, yet, so, I'll keep the hyperlinked detail maps in mind.

I worked with the map pretty extensively this evening. I turned off sheet effects and that seems to have helped stability.

Sorry....deleted the attachment as I realized it probably doesn't belong here....
