Lost fills

I decided to call up an old file to use as a base to work off of, but when I try to use the drawing tool the fills are all greyed out:
The style is Annual Ship Plans. I've tried changing the tool to other style, but the grey out carries through. I'm pretty sure I've seen the solution to this before but can't find the posting,
