Changing Random Streets

In a previous thread Cannot save city map as a PNG I was told I couldn't save the map because of the roof textures. What is the best way to change the massive amount of houses created by the random street tool?
Comments
1. first in the Display Speed Settings, check the three boxes on the lower left, this will speed up redraws.
2. Unlock groups (lower right button on screen)
3. Change the Fill Style of all entities on the layer STRUCTURES (SHADING) to "Solid" (this removes bitmap fills on the roofs).
4. Erase everything on the layer STRUCTURES (FILL STYLE). This removes all hatching if there is any.
5. Open the Symbol Manager and delete all "Chimney" and "Edge" symbols. THis removes all frill symbols on the houses.
What you unfortunately can't undo are the irregular house edges. These contribute a lot to the awkwardness of the map, because each house has lots of nodes (instead of just a few ones for straight edges).
For the future, if you are adding that many houses to a map, try to use house styles that are as plain as possible. In the "house settings", the style should preferably be CD3_Blank, there should be no frills, no roof hatching and no ridges selected, and the roof color should be solid colors and not bitmap fills.
Hope that helps.
