Opening Files

Why is it that sometimes, when I select File -> Open from the CC3+ menu the file manager screen for opening the file contains a field titled "Tags" and sometimes it does not?

I'm not sure I understand what you mean. Please can you show us a screen shot of the field in that dialog?

Or perhaps you mean the "File Notes" box, which will only show the file notes if you have an .FCW file selected to open?

  • Change the "View Menu" menu option to Details in your file manager box.

This has the file manager box looking like this.

There is a list of fields here. This screen shot has Name, Date modified, Type, and Size.

Sometimes, there is also a Tags field. I have never seen anything in that field, I'm just curious why it sometimes appears and sometimes it doesn't.

    Thanks,

    Oh I see.

Sorry ovka - no idea. It probably doesn't affect the process of opening a file, though.

  • It doesn't seem to. I wouldn't even have noticed it except that sometimes there is a scroll bar just above the file name box. I scrolled over, and there it was. I haven't been able to determine when the field appears and when it does not. I have tried several different experiments, just to satisfy my curiosity, and it seems somewhat random.

If it bothers you I believe you can hide that column if you right click the column header. Tags aren't normally visible. I know that because I've never messed with the column settings so this is the default setup.

  • Bingo! I can right-click on the titles and add and remove columns (including Tags). I'm still not 100% sure why it was there, and then it wasn't, but perhaps I inadvertently made that change myself.

    Thanks for your help,

  • And I think I finally figured it out. MS Paint defaults to having the Tags field in the open dialog box. If I open an image file in MS Paint, then open a file in CC3+, the Tags field appears in CC3+.
