How many times a day does CC3+ crash for you?
I tell you I'm getting a little frustrated with all the crashes. Just today I lost an hour or two placing vegetation from tons of different annuals, so I would have all the symbols referenced in the map.
Boom crash.
What pisses me off the most was I had AUTOSAVE enabled. Also set it to save every ten minutes with no prompt. So I was like, no problem, won't lose that much progress.
Boot up autosave.....nada. Same state as when I started the work.
Same deal as disabling smart symbols. Still have to manually turn off smart symbols every time.

Does it still happen if you switch autosave off and manually save at appropriate points in your work? (CTRL+S is a quick shortcut)
Smart symbols is set to on at the beginning of each session. I don't think I've ever asked if there's a global on off switch.
That sounds frustrating. If Autosave is not working for you, that is, saving the file however often you've asked it to, it means you have a specific system-related bug or setting, for which you can seek technical support,
If you can induce a reproduceable crash, please report it, because we can probably fix it.
We don't have a global between-session disable for smart symbols because they are an integral part of a lot of map-making and it's easy to change a setting and then forget you have done it.
Use CTRL - S and CTRL Shift S a fair bit. This was the first time I set autosave with "Prompt Off" I usually have it on. So figured that would be good enough to not bother saving.
I think I was mistaken about smart symbols. I thought with "symbol options" it was turned off all the time.
Yea just another random crash....looking through symbol cataloges. Wasn't even doing any commands on the map.
If you did exactly the same thing as before, I would make a Tech Support report like Simon suggested.
Nah this instance was from a fresh boot up. Didn't use a single command, just using the symbol catalogue folder button.
I'll try keep better track of what I'm doing.
If you have an FCW file and a set of instructions that invariably cause a crash that would be worth sending to TS.
